Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs it down,
But a good word makes it glad - Proverbs 12:25

I am a Christian person who has received full registration to practice as a psychologist. Being a Christian does not mean that I impose my values onto my clients, but rather, I apply the love of Jesus to every person; seeing every client as equal, fellow humans who deserve my utmost respect and support.

Christian people may choose to seek out a Christian psychologist to ensure a non-judgemental approach in their sessions. Perhaps they would feel comfortable knowing that their values and beliefs are understood by the clinician. Christians are not exempt from suffering complex trauma, personality issues, family domestic violence, anxiety and depressive disorders, issues of identity, low self-esteem and suicidal ideations.

FAQs

I am not a Christian, will this impact our sessions?

As a psychologist, I operate under a code of ethics. I will treat all clients with respect, and uphold a and non-discriminatory approach on the basis of age, religion, sexuality, ethnicity, gender, disability, or any other basis.

Psychologists demonstrate their respect for people by acknowledging their legal rights and moral rights, their dignity and right to participate in decisions affecting their lives. They have high regard for the diversity and uniqueness of people and their right to linguistically and culturally appropriate services. Psychologists endeavour to ensure that all people have reasonable and fair access to psychological services and share in the benefits that the practice of psychology can offer.

Christian clients may prefer to choose a Christian psychologist just as other clients may prefer to choose a psychologist of the same language, gender, or cultural background.

I am of a specific denomination or faith, will this be the right fit?

Your faith will not influence the evidence-based treatment you receive for your mental health concerns. You can also determine after a session whether the psychologist is a good fit for you and your needs. Additionally, you will be an active contributor to your intervention plan and therapeutic goals; including how much faith-based content you wish to include in sessions.

I AM INTERESTED BUT I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO PAY FOR SESSIONS?

If you are an Australian resident and have a medicare card, you are entitled to a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). If you are not an Australian resident, feel free to call and we can discuss this further.

Will there be prayer in sessions?

Prayer is a fundamental aspect of a Christian’s life. This decision, however, depends on your preference.
